Team India’s advantages

1. Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan back in form

India desperately wanted Kohli back in form for the big event. His bad run affected India’s performance in the recently concluded tri-nation series. Virat started off the 2015 world cup with a match winning hundred against Pakistan. He has appeared in 13 matches(11 innings out of 13 matches DNB in two occasions) against South Africa so far with the highest score of 87 not out.

Dhawan who was out of touch also start hitting runs, the innings against Pakistan was a good sign for India in the World cup contest. If India get a good opening partnership they can create history.

2. Raina’s aggressive batting

Suresh Raina is known for his aggressive batting and played significant role in India’s victories. If Raina spend some time in the middle he can take the match away from the opponents.

3. Mohammed Shami’s accuracy

Mohammed Shami became India’s ace bowler in a short span. He is not the quickest like the South African bowlers but his ability to provide breakthroughs when the team needs make him dangerous. His ability to generate the reverse swings especially when the ball get old make him a very special bowler. The 4 wicket performance against Pakistan will definitely boost his morale.

Dis advantages

1. Whenever Kohli go past half century (three times) against South Africa India lost the match.

2. Though Raina bounced back, India’s middle order was tested in the first match. India lost quick wickets in the first match reveals the weak side of Indian middle order.

Advantage – South Africa

1. AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla

The top two batsman in the ODI ranking AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla are the back born of South Africa. South Africa is considered as one of the strongest in this world cup. If one of them kept going thing will be difficult for India. Both of these players have a good batting record against India.

2. JP Duminy and David Miller

Both of these players proved their importance in the match against Zimbabwe. They joined together to put up huge partnership of 256 when South Africa was really struggling at 83 for 4 wickets.

3. Dayle Steyn

One of the best fast bowlers in the world. He can become a huge threat to Indian batting line up with his fast and deadly deliveries.

Dis advantage

1. Though South Africa leads 3-0 against India in the world cup face off, South Africa has a record of failing to win major tournaments.

2. Failure of top order batsmen against the moderate Zimbabwe’s bowling attack in the first match is a cause of concern.
