Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli the players with 183 knocks under their belt. Now do you find any similarities…183 is considered as the lucky figure for the Indian Captaincy. All the three players were became Indian Captains after scoring this magic figure!!!

Sourav Ganuly and MS Dhoni proved themselves that they were best in the business. Now Kohli is being given the charges of captain in the absence of current captain MS Dhoni. The former two were acknowledged as one of the best captains that India ever produced. Kohli had already proved himself as a batsman, we might see Kohli leading the Team India in the coming years as a full time captain.

In the 1999 world cup match against Sri Lanka, Sourav Ganguly scored a magnificent 183 runs with 7 massive sixes and 17 boundaries, an absolute carnage of Sri Lankan attack. He created a world record with Rahul Dravid (145) for the highest partnership (318 runs) in ODIs, the first triple in this kind. In 2000, Ganguly was named as new Indain captain as Sachin Tendulkar stepped down from his position.

MS Dhoni gained a place in every Indian fan with his glorious 183 innings against Sri Lanka in Jaipur in 2005. He was promoted to the one down position when India was chasing a total of 299. Dhoni’s one man show with 10 sixes and 15 boundaries in 145-ball gave India an awesome win. In 2007, he was appointed as captain of Indian team for the World Twenty20 Championship and the rest is history. He, then, went on to become the ODI captain of the Indian team for the ODI series against Australia in September 2007. In 2008 Dhoni took over the captaincy of Test team from an injured Anil Kumle.

Kohli’s 183 came in the match against the arch rival Pakistan in 2012. In a high scoring match India chased down a mammoth 329 runs with the brilliant effort of Kohli, one of his greatest performances in ODI. Kohli shown his maturity as a batsman and realized the situation. His efficiency to switch his game according to the situation provided India a ever cherishing victory. A year later after his brilliant 183 he got a chance to lead India in the ODIs.

Kohli who was the victorious captain in the Under-19 World Cup in 2008, is considered as the future captain of Team India.
