1. Zimbabwe beat Australia by 13 runs in 1983

Zimbabwe’s first official One-Day International match was ever memorable and a big shock to Australia. In the 1983 world cup Duncan Fletcher’s men upset the Australia side which had legendary names like Border, Lillee, Thomson and Marsh. Zimbabwe put up a moderate 239 for 6 wickets in 60 overs. Duncan Fletcher excelled with bat and scored a valuable 69 not out. Everybody was expecting an easy Australian win. But things were not easy for Aussies. Fletcher’s 4 wicket performance restricted Australia at 227 for 7 in 60 overs. Australia fell 13 runs short to Zimbabwe and a historic victory for the minnows in the cricket world.

2. India beat West Indies by 43 runs in 1983

Though the tournament already witnessed a surprise win by the Zimbabwe, beating the two times champions in the world cup final was not in the wildest dreams of Indian fans. But whatever happened in the final of 1983 world cup was history.  .Batting first, India’s innings ended up at 183 runs. The great West Indian fast bowlers did what was expecting from them. This total was not at all a testing for the famous Caribbean batting line up. But on that special day every thing scripted was favorable for Indian side. When Ireland beat England by 3 wickets with five balls to spare, another record had been broken – the highest successful chase in the tournament’s history.

4. Kenya beat West Indies by 73 runs in 1996

Kenya’s unbelievable win against West Indies was one of the highlights of 1996 edition. Kenya was asked to bat first in the match where bowlers were dominated. Kenya was restricted to 166 runs by a disciplined West Indies bowling attack. Though chasing a small total West Indies were never look comfortable. At one stage they were reduced to 35-4 and collapsed to 93 runs. Only two West Indies batsmen could manage a double digit score. With a 73 runs victory against two time world champions Kenya registered their first victory in the ODIs.

5. Bangladesh beat India by 5 wickets in 2007

The 2007 Indian team was one of the hot favorites to lift the cup. The vast experienced Indian team was expecting a win over the neighbors. India elected to bat first after winning the toss. The young and inexperience Bangladesh team was good enough to shock India. Bangladesh bowlers sharp bowling put India in trouble from the starting itself. India could never recover from the initial blows and eventually ended up the innings at 191 runs. Six Indian batsmen were dismissed in single digits. In replay Bangladesh batsmen played sensibly to seal the historic win. Tamim Iqbal’s quick half century was the highlight of Bangladesh innings.
